A 'hot issue' for urban cyclists

Ultrafine particles' in ambient air - that is a 'hot issue' currently in the newspapers. Ultrafine particles (UFP), for which traffic emissions (mainly diesel engines) are a major source, have a negative impact on public health. In the European Union, each year about 300.000 people prematurely die as a result of exposure to UFP and Particulate Matter (PM) in general. Collected Fine Dust Data is now being evaluated

By end of May 2008, the special VECTOR-bicycle has finally completed the necessary fine dust measuring trips successfully. Now, the international cooperative project VECTOR goes into its crucial phase: The data of Ultra Fine Particles (UFP), collected right in the traffic of four major European cities, will be scientifically evaluated during the upcoming months.
