Review of studies on PM-toxicity
A review of recent studies on the toxicity of traffic-related particulate matter (PM), showing that the smaller PM size fractions (< PM10) have the highest toxicity. Besides, current (European) air quality standards based on 'mass concentrations' may not be accurate and 'particle number concentrations' may more accurately predict health effects.
